Frequency of behavior [in multiway systems]

Among multiway systems with randomly chosen rules, one finds about equal numbers that grow rapidly and die out completely. A few percent exhibit repetitive behavior, while only one in several million exhibit more complex behavior. One common form of more complex behavior is quadratic growth, with essentially periodic fluctuations superimposed—as on page 206.
