RandScape: Some Algorithms for Self-Organizing Patterns

Jeremy Smith

Originally, I was exploring ways of arranging streams of random data into fairly coherent visual landscapes, in order to develop some methods for visually studying non-random data. Almost immediately, I (re)discovered the emergence of complex structures from simple rules or algorithms. The multitude of patterns presented here represent the application of a few simple algorithms (sorting and arranging rules) on streams of random data.
